Muthanga Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere, this sanctuary in Wayanad is a rain forest reserve and is connected to the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka and the Mudumalai Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The vegetation is predominantly moist deciduous forest and contains several rare herbs and medicinal plants. Muthanga is a Project Elephant site and is home to herds of Pachyderms. It also includes Leopards, Gaur (wild Buffalo), and Sambar deer amongst others and is also home to a small population of Tigers. The bewildering range of birds, butterflies and insects is amazing.
