Muthanga

Muthanga wild life sancturyMuthanga Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere, this sanctuary in Wayanad is a rain forest reserve and is connected to the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka and the Mudumalai Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The vegetation is predominantly moist deciduous forest and contains several rare herbs and medicinal plants. Muthanga is a Project Elephant site and is home to herds of Pachyderms. It also includes Leopards, Gaur (wild Buffalo), and Sambar deer amongst others and is also home to a small population of Tigers. The bewildering range of birds, butterflies and insects is amazing.

 
Parambikulam 
Parambikulam sanctuaryParambikulam Located in Palakkad district, and tucked away in the valley between the Annamalai range of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathy Ranges of Kerala, on the Western Ghats, this reserve is a breathtaking 285 sq. kms. Three major rivers have their origins here. The magnificent variety of wildlife that includes Elephants, Tigers, Leopards, Jungle Cats, Bears, Spotted Deer, Crocodiles, Vipers, Pythons Cobras and several species of birds
Tholpetti
Tholpetti sanctuaryThis sanctuary too is in Wayanad and borders with the Coorg district of Karnataka. The flora and fauna is similar to that of Muthanga.
Nagarhole Wild life Sanctuary

Nagarhole wild life sanctuaryNagarhole Wild life Sanctuary Also known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park is located in Karnataka on the border with Wayanad and is one of the finest reserves in the country. The world famous Kabini River Lodge is within the sanctuary and offers a truly breathtaking experience with guided Elephant and Jeep Safaris, Coracle rides down the river and opportunities to photograph wildlife in their natural habitat.

The best time to visit Forest Reserves is between November and May. Special permission is required to enter these areas and the authorities are very particular that the environment is not damaged by visitors. Silent Valley

Silent ValleySilent Valley A truly magnificent gift of nature, with its treasure trove of rare and nearly extinct flora and fauna is believed to have an unbroken ecological history. Two major rivers have their origins here and a unique fact is that even during the Monsoon season when all other rivers turn muddy, the waters of the Kunthi River remain clear and sparkling. The valley is home to several species of birds, mammals and reptiles and contains rare medicinal plants. Silent valley is located in Palakkad district.

Kurva Dweep 

Kurwa Dweep The Dweep (island) in Wayanad is a marvel of nature. It is a series of islets formed within an area of 955 acres created by the East flowing Kabini River. The beauty and tranquility of the place is breathtaking and is an ideal place for spending some quite time with a partner or just picnicking.
